Frequently asked questions.
How
will you discipline my child?
My policy is to use a raised voice and say "please
don't do that" If needed the child may be removed from
the situation. If required a "time out" will be used.
This would take the form of placing the child in a set
spot for a short time - this would normally be 1 minute
for each year of the child's life. Physical & verbal
abuse will not be used at anytime. All discipline used
will be reported to parents in both verbal & written
form.
Will
my child be given activities to do?
Education starts long before you child starts school.
Allowing & encouraging your child to be creative through
activities, play & conversation are all part of the
normal day. Many of the activities are designed to help
develop the child's imagination, language skills &
mathematical thinking. We always encourage your child to
be confident, independent & to develop their own self
esteem.
Will
my child be "stuck indoors" all day?
Walks & outings are regular features of our day. Visits
to local shops & parks help develop your child. This
combined with playtime in the garden (weather allowing!)
ensure your child gets plenty of fresh air. These trips
are always conducted in the safest possible way.
What
happens about food & drink?
All dietary needs are accounted for & all food is
freshly prepared (at extra cost). Drinks are offered
throughout the day including water, milk, juice & sugar
free squash.
Do
you supply toys & equipment?
Prams, car seats, highchairs, playpens & toys are all
supplied. Daily consumables such as nappies, nappy
sacks, wipes, cotton wool, sun cream etc are to be
supplied by parents. Towelling nappies will be used if
they are supplied by parents with liners & a bucket etc
My
child needs medication every day?
Some medications such as Calpol, Bonjella or asthma
meds will be given. Other medications may be given
providing that you have given written instructions. In
every case you will be required to give written consent
for Dianne to give the medications.
Can
you help with potty training?
Working together gets best results. When your child
is ready reward charts are used.
How
can I be sure your keeping my child safe?
All children are safe whilst in my care. Regular
safety inspections are carried out by government
inspectors.
I
often work late, can you collect from school?
We can, by prior arrangement collect from local schools
pre-school's & nursery's. This service does include
local villages such as Braughing, Westmill & Hormead.
